IN-EI Issey Miyake’s collection of free – standing, table and hanging lights comes from the world of fashion and is a result of the collaboration of one of the most iconic of Japanese designers – Issey Miyake, and lighting expertise of Artemide. “IN-EI” is Japanese for “shadow, shadiness, nuance.”
The impressive lighting sculptures are made of fabric derived from entirely recycled materials – a re-treated fibre made using PET bottles, processed using innovative technology that reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions up to 40% compared to the production of new materials. An additional surface treatment allows these shades to keep their shape without the need for internal frame, and to be re-shaped when needed. The lamps have just an internal structure composed of a diffuser tube and LED chip. When not in use they can be easily stored flat.

The fascinating IN-EI ISSEY MIYAKE series are designed in a similar way his famous fashion collection “132 5” has been created.
They combine the Japanese tradition of light with Miyake’s unique ability to translate tradition into modernity and are created using Issey Miyake’s unique folding technology that includes a new 3D mathematical process. The result is a modern design classic.
