A new and celebrated signature on the international design scene, Ron Gilad, features now in the range of products by Salvatori. The Israeli artist presents the Soft Marble collection, where he has succeeded in bringing out all the technical and expressive potential of marble which, in his hands, becomes a surprisingly versatile and malleable stone. This collection of objects is the result of a successful, close-knit collaboration where all of Salvatori’s know-how has been placed at the service of the designer’s creativity. In order to achieve this result, which is both expressive and innovative Ron Gilad studied the material in depth. For Gilad this was based on three guiding concepts: weight, hardness and fragility which are completely overhauled. The material is worked to the limit of its physical characteristics, as if it was a stretch material!
The Soft Marble project presents itself in all its aesthetic value and speaks the language of abstract and pure shapes, in pure Salvatori style. Ron Gilad uses irony and lightness when creating solid and important objects: Paravento based on the principle of Lego building blocks, the Girella seat, which evokes butter that has just been cut with a knife and the Galleria seat, like a curved leaf.
The Cuscini finish completes the collection: a reinterpretation of marble in a decidedly modern key, but with a nod at the past. With Cuscini, the designer offers a new finish that is all about the solidity of stone and the softness of shapes, modifying how he usually perceives it. The result is all-new and original: a solid, sculpture-like and incredibly “light” surface. via
